Community-based HIV service organizations play an essential role in the national HIV response. They are trusted partners on the frontlines—educating, testing, and connecting people to prevention and treatment. But as the HIV landscape evolves, these organizations face new challenges that threaten their sustainability and capacity to serve.
To address this need, Merck is launching Strengthening the Capacity and Resilience of U.S. HIV Organizations, a new grant program supporting nonprofit HIV organizations—particularly those in the South—in building resilience and adaptability.
Funding will support the development of a Strategic Sustainability Plan, focusing on:
- Organizational capacity building – Strengthening leadership, finance, and data systems.
- Strategic planning for sustainability – Developing sustainable business models, mobilizing resources, and advancing new models of care.
The initiative
Through grants of $100,000–$150,000 for the period January 1 – December 31, 2026, the program will fund the development of Strategic Sustainability Plans to strengthen leadership, financial systems, data use, and sustainable models of care.
This initiative represents a critical investment in the future of HIV services—protecting progress, empowering organizations, and advancing the collective goal of ending the HIV epidemic.
